On the 19th to 20th of August, my friends and I joined the Model United Nations held by Universitas Brawijaya, called Asian Student’s Lawyers Association MUN 2022. The students who participated in this 2-day conference were Cheryl Loemantoro, Eiffelinne Rudijanto, Denna Lukmanto, Vebro Javier Njoto, Moza Dharma Marcello, and Kevin Gauw.

Model United Nations simulates an actual United Nations conference that offers students a learning experience in diplomacy, international relations, debate, and more. The topic we discussed about was ‘Ending Violence Against Women’, where we spent two days brainstorming and collaborating to create a substantial resolution towards the issue. For instance, we discussed the severe criminalization of sex offenders, the role of education, and the role of national legislation in enforcing regulations that curb domestic and sexual violence.

From this event, we learnt to develop our critical ideation skills and communicate our opinions in a formal manner. On the third day, we participated in the awards ceremony, where Vebro Javier Njoto was awarded the Most Outstanding Delegate and I was awarded the Best Delegate. Overall, it was a very fun and insightful experience.
