Dear Parents, Teachers, and Staff,

Welcome back everyone to the start of Semester 2. This is very much the business end of the year, particularly for our Grade 12 students who now face the build up to first their mock exams then their actual IBDP examinations. We wish them all the very best at what is a very busy and somewhat stressful time. Help is available from school counsellors and subject teachers if you are feeling under pressure and experiencing distress.

There were two major events at the end of last semester. The first was Literacy (Book) Week. It was fabulous to see this event celebrated across the continuum with lots of interactions between the High School, PYP and EYP.  The classic event was the book character parade on Wednesday morning.  The students, (and teachers) looked amazing in their costumes as they took on the persona of their chosen characters. This event also involved students from right across the continuum.

We also enjoyed an end of semester concert for the first time in three years with the “Rhythm of Life,” in Ciputra Hall. Again, it was lovely to see the wide range of ages and abilities on display. It was a wonderful evening.

This term begins with the school being open fully face-to-face for the first time since the pandemic started. There will be no online option as students need to be face-to-face. The only caveat on this is if a class has more than two current cases. In this instance members of that class may opt for an online option for five days. As I write this the number of covid cases amongst our student body is zero, where it has been since the 9th of December.

We celebrate Mathematics Week with special attention to the 100th day of school. We look forward to lots of exciting activities and a continued emphasis on building a love for, and excellence in mathematics.

Once again welcome back to the new semester.

Have a great week!
