News from the Executive Principal’s Desk

Dear students, staff, parents, alumni and the whole Sekolah Ciputra community,

It is wonderful having such a hardworking and supportive parent support group (PSG). On Thursday last week they held a very successful first aid course with over 60 participants and on Thursday they held a workshop on sustainable fashion. They are also working incredibly hard organising the bazaar which is scheduled for the 14th of October which will be an amazing event.  You will be receiving more information on this in due course. At both courses Pak Sam gave participants a short questionnaire about the development of the school over the next four years. This data will be combined with survey data, WASC and IBO recommendations and direction from our Board of Trustees to help write our strategic plan 2024-2027, the draft of which is scheduled to be complete by the end of the first semester.

On the theme of service to the school, thank you so much to our student leadership group OSIS 2022-2023 who donated funds to build an extra playground for students to use. We had the pleasure of opening the playground today and look forward to students having a great deal of joy using this new facility.

Good luck to all participants at the World Scholars Cup Global Round in Bangkok. We have a big contingent of over forty participants and coaches going. We wish them all the very best of success and good luck in reaching the tournament of champions. It is wonderful to see the enthusiasm that this event inspires.

Congratulations and commiserations to our three aside basketball team who qualified for the DBL semifinals but unfortunately came up short 9-7 in a hard-fought match. We are very proud of their efforts and achievements.

Our PAIS testing will be completed during the week, and we now look forward to analysing the results to improve individual student learning and also the quality of teaching and learning in the school. The students will have a repeat test towards the end of the year which will look at their rate of improvement and understanding. We also have some grade 11 students sitting the ANBK examinations.

STUCO begin their sports league this week. Thank you to all those students (and staff) who have put in so much time and effort into organising this event.  We wish them all the very best.

Good luck to the G 12 students who have the key submission of their draft extended essay (EE) due today (Monday 28th) at 10.30. The EE is an independent, fully researched and cited 4000-word university standard essay required of all students. It is a serious academic challenge, and we wish all our hard-working G12s all the very best.

It seemed that the whole school community was involved with the STEAM Day on Friday. We had activities across the continuum as well as parents attending a workshop on STEAM activities for the home and a really engaging session for parents making sustainable fashion. It is so wonderful to have such widespread and positive engagement in our community and so typical of our wonderful Sekolah Ciputra family.

Have a great week.
