Dear students, staff, parents, alumni and the whole Sekolah Ciputra community,

It is exam week for our year 10 and 11 students. This type of practice is critical for our students to experience. Content knowledge is important.  The ability to predict, evaluate and synthesise is also important. However, what is often overlooked is the importance of developing good examination technique. The experience of sitting examinations helps students to be better prepared, and hopefully more relaxed about their final summative examinations, and let’s not forget that the IBDP is an examination-based curriculum where our students perform with the best students from all around the world. We wish them all the very best of luck for their examinations and also to the grades 7-9 for their final summative tasks and the grade 12 students for their extended essay viva voce.

Last week we had our WASC visitors complete their mid-cycle review of the school. We have received extremely positive oral feedback about both the performance of the school, the quality of teaching and learning and the improvement of the school since the last visit two and a half years ago. We will of course share the formal outcomes with the community.

I am really pleased and proud of everyone who was involved in the scholarship programme this year and especially thankful to our wonderful board who have made extra funding available to support both academic and sporting scholarships. Congratulations to everyone who went through the process. Entering the selection process is rigorous and even if not successful this time helps build focus and resilience. This year we have given the biggest number of scholarships ever and the standard was incredibly high. In total we gave 11 scholarships, seven academic and four sporting scholarships. These went to six grade seven and five grade ten students made up of five current Sekolah Ciputra students and six from outside the school.

Finally our second trimester of ECAs and sports start today. We look forward to students enjoying a wide range of activities and sports.

Have a great week

Martin Blackburn
