On the 12th to the 15th October 2020, Sekolah Ciputra will host a visit from the International Baccalaureate Organisation (IBO) and the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC). We are an IBO Continuum School and are in the process of adding WASC to our accreditations.
There are very few schools world-wide that are IBO Continuum. This means students get the opportunity of studying the IB from the age of three right through to graduation. Sekolah Ciputra teaches the Primary Years Programme (PYP), the Middle Years Programme (MYP) and the Diploma Programme, (IBDP). Recently, the Indonesian Government ranked all the international education providers, awarding the IB programme first place.
The visits are part of a four yearly cycle to ensure that our structure and systems best support student learning. It is wonderful to have this type of feedback as it helps us to plan for the future. Although we are a successful and mature IB school, we know there is always room to improve. We use the philosophy that we expect from our students, which is to reflect upon our work and think critically with a view to building a cycle of continuous improvement. The visits may only be every four years, but we are constantly involved with the IBO through workshops, seminars and meetings.
The WASC visit, which will take place at the same time, has a wider focus. We will be evaluated on our school administration, building, finances, health and safety and child protection to name a few. We are currently a WASC candidate school. Officially a “Candidate for accreditation. Approved by the Accrediting Commission for Schools, Western Association of Schools and Colleges.” A WASC team visited us from the 29th – 31st October 2018, inspected the school and its systems and we moved to candidate status in February 2019. The next visit, as previously stated, takes place in October 2020. The results are most likely to be released around February 2021.
Apart from quality assurance, helping us to ensure that all our school systems are in keeping with international best practice, WASC accreditation has a number of other significant benefits:
