Dear Parents,

It is lovely to have the school year underway as we continue to pursue our school vision. It has been pleasing to note the focus in class and increasing levels of expectation for academic rigour. It is also good to note those other less tangible things like the increased focus on service and manners. Our parent interviews in both the Elementary and High School are underway also. These help to clarify expectations and ensure focus on the commonly shared goal of ensuring students are prepared in the best way possible for their learning journey. Speaking of these preparations, I was delighted to get positive feedback from the DP camp which helped to set the tone for the DP class of 2020. All in all, we have enjoyed a positive and focussed start.

Our sympathies go to anyone who was impacted by the recent earthquake in Lombok. The victims and their families are in our thoughts and prayers. This morning all classes in the school went through our emergency protocols which include earthquake drills. This is part of our normal school health and safety protocols, but given recent events it certainly has loomed even larger in our focus. Our preparations will continue this month including an announced emergency evacuation on the 24th of this month. Please take the opportunity to quiz your child on what to do in the event of an emergency.

Have a great week.
