Dear Parents, Teachers and Staff,

We are at that time of the year when teachers are working busily assembling reports. This provides a great learning opportunity for everyone. Reports are valuable because they give us a picture of where we are now (a summative view) but also provide a pathway towards where we need to be heading with our learning (a formative perspective.) A great deal of care gets put into each and every  report. They are designed to give a snapshot in time in terms of the level at which each student is achieving.  Moving forward though, the critical use of reports is to focus upon what is working, what needs support and what are the next steps in the learning journey. I urge everyone to check their reports carefully and to participate actively in report conferences. Reports give the opportunity for parents, students and teachers to form a common idea of the next steps in the student’s learning journey and provide a great springboard for the following semester.

Well done to all the students who tried out for a position on the cast of the virtual Christmas concert and congratulations to those who made the final cast. We look forward to seeing you all in action. Well done also to those who took part in Santa’s Challenge Book giveaway in the PYP last week. It looked like it was a lot of fun!

Finally a big thank you to the staff and students who have been involved in the Grade 12 simulation. It is good to see a degree of normalcy beginning to appear.

Have a great week.
