Dear Parents, Teachers and Staff,

Grade 6 completed their MAP testing last week and the process will continue with Grades 3 and 9 over the next two weeks. MAP testing is a significant part of our assessment regime at Sekolah Ciputra. MAP testing is a source of information on the quality of our programmes. The assessments are independently marked and give us insight into the strengths and weaknesses of our programme as well as data on individual students. As an example, if we find that there is a consistent theme of our students struggling with a particular concept we can adapt or programme so that we are better addressing it. We also get individual feedback so can identify areas for growth in individual students. The results provide a before/after snapshot. The students sit an assessment at the beginning and towards the end of the year.  We can therefore see whether they are progressing and if our interventions have been effective.  We have been doing MAP for several years now and so are able to compare results for year to year to focus on consistent progress.  MAP also gives us the opportunity of comparing the performance of our school to world norms and to set targets for improvement. It is a valuable exercise for the school and its students.

It has been wonderful to see the progress on the “Aladdin,” production. A dedicated team of students and staff have been coming in to school each Saturday morning to rehearse as well as construct the necessary backdrops and props for the production. We all look forward to their performance.

There are so many areas where our students participate and thrive. A new addition to our school website can be found in the Programmes Tab. Titled, “Activities and Competitions,” it outlines all upcoming events as well as giving results from the participation of students in different activities. At the moment, success in Economics Essay writing competition, Mandarin, Music and Equestrian all feature, testament to the wide range of activities our students undertake. Speaking of activities, good luck to the Grade 4 students and their virtual camp, the participants in the OSIS decathlon and those who will be taking part in the upcoming MUN.

We wish you all the best for a Happy Easter.

Have a great week.
