Dear Parents, Teachers and Staff,

Last Friday, our hard-working parent support group (PSG) held their weekly meeting to discuss ongoing projects. They also gave valuable feedback on our school profile for the WASC and IBO accreditation and re-authorisation visits. It was a wonderful opportunity to sit with this representative body and discuss the progress the school has made and its ongoing direction.  What was very evident was the passion and enthusiasm our parents have for the school and their willingness to be partners in their children’s learning journeys. Research unequivocally concludes that strong, learning based partnerships in teaching and learning between students, teachers and parents are a significant predictor of future academic success. It was really pleasing to note that the parents know their children will be extended academically at Sekolah Ciputra, therefore, they are very supportive of our initiatives to encourage good manners and positive behaviour, as these are important in their own right, but also builds emotional intelligence.

The theme of parental partnership continues. We will meet with the PSG again of Friday to discuss the recent parent survey results. These discussions are open to all parents, so please feel free to participate or even pass on your ideas to your PSG representative.

Our grade level meetings continue this week giving you the chance of meeting with the respective school leadership teams and your children’s teachers. We also have various options for you to be involved with the school. Follow us on Instagram, check out our website for up-to-date information, up coming events and the 2019-2020 academic calendar. Our WhatsApp broadcasts inform of cross-school events, reminders and news. Our senior staff are also willing to meet by appointment. Please phone or call into the the school admin to arrange this. Note, I am available every Friday morning from 7:35 – 9:00 am to meet parents. Simply come to the main administration office.

Positive communication is everything. We will continue to foster our relationship and build an enduring learning partnership.

Have a great week!

Martin Blackburn
