Dear parents, students, teachers and alumni of Sekolah Ciputra,
It has been a busy past few days, with the Grade 5 assembly and PYP fire drill from Ciputra Hall taking place this past Friday morning, High School PTC’s were Friday afternoon, the Sekolah Ciputra Cup Junior Soccer Tournament this past Friday and Saturday (with our Junior Boys finishing in 3rd place!), the Debate Parent and Student Info Sessions on Friday and Debate Workshops on Saturday. I also saw that the Sekolah Ciputra fans were named the loudest supporters at the Next Gen Basketball Competition this past week, so that’s a pretty impressive accomplishment!
Thank you to everyone who helped out with these events or attended them, as a lot of work goes into it all. Having the PYP’s fire drill take place at the same time the High School students were on morning break and SIS was having their Color Run might not have been the most convenient timing, but as I said to our leadership teams, we cannot control when a fire might break out, so we need to practice it in realistic situations, and we definitely did that!
This week is another busy one, as there are a number of events taking place both inside and outside of school. Throughout the week the Grade 10 students will participate in “DP Tester Lessons” as they begin thinking about what subjects to take in 11th and 12th grades. We will also have the Grade 12 TKA mock exams throughout the week for students who registered for them. Monday from 2:00-3:00 we’ll have the High School Parent Information Session in the LRC, and the DP Visual Art students will visit an art exhibition in the city from 2nd-4th periods. Our Junior Girls’ Basketball Team will play their 2nd Next Gen Competition game on Monday, leaving school at 11:25.
Grade 6 students and staff leave for their grade level camp in Yogyakarta on Tuesday, returning to school on Friday. We will have an Early Years’ Fire Drill on Tuesday morning at 8:30. The Junior Girls’ Basketball Team will play their 3rd Next Gen game on Wednesday, also leaving school at 11:25. There is a SEAL activity during 5th and 6th periods for all 11th and 12th grade students in the IEH on Wednesday afternoon as well. Finally, we will have an exhibition in Ciputra World Mall this Friday-Sunday, with a range of student performances taking place on stage.
This week’s article is a good one for us to reflect on as we begin the second term of the school year. It is about how good teachers (which we have a ton of!) get even better. Here are the English and Indonesian video summaries for you as well. Let me know what you think and have a great week!
