Dear Parents, Teachers and Staff,

Welcome to the final week of the semester and as usual it is action packed.  We celebrate Literacy Week across the continuum (aka book week). The week will see a wide range of activities designed to support a love of reading, which is absolutely foundational to academic success, and which can also be one of the great joys in life. Highlights of the week will include the peer-to-peer reading with students form different grades across the continuum reading to younger (and older) students. The Book Character Day on Wednesday also promises to be a lot of fun!  High School (led by OSIS) are integrating this into their Christmas spirit week too.

We are delighted to see that after a hiatus of nearly three years we will have a concert on Thursday evening, “The Rhythm of Life,” highlighting the many talents of our students involved in extra-curricula activities. This is a wonderful occasion for the community to gather before the break. We look forward to an entertaining evening.

On Friday, the Elementary held their Learner Profile assembly.  “The aim of the IB programmes is to develop internationally minded people who, recognising their common humanity and shared guardianship of the planet, help to create a better and more peaceful world.”  (https://www.british.edu.uy/index.php/en/learning/ib-learner-profile). This is a special occasion where those students who exemplify the 10 learner profile attributes are acknowledged. Congratulations to those who are reflective, balanced, knowledgeable, open minded, risk takers, caring, principles, inquirers, communicators and thinkers.

On Friday we also held an event in the Early Years. Our school is almost to capacity, but we do have limited availability in the Early Years. If you have friends and family looking for schooling options, we encourage them to come and check out Sekolah Ciputra’s Early Years. This is a good opportunity to enter the school system and the IB Programme.

Finally, we wish the whole community a safe and happy holiday.  Merry Christmas and a very happy new year!
