The Sekolah Ciputra Model United Nations team have been busy competing both locally and nationally in November.
The Model United Nations (MUN) is a programme where students represent delegates from United Nations members, trying to replicate the inner workings of the U.N.
First, from 2nd-3rd November, we travelled to the Green School in Bali for the BALIMUN2019. This conference had the theme of the U.N’s Sustainable Development Goals, thus making the Green School an appropriate venue, since this campus is mainly made out of bamboo and other sustainable resources. This event opened up numerous opportunities for its participants in terms of improving their public speaking, leadership and teamwork skills, along with allowing them to contribute in tackling current world issues through debates and collaboration in negotiating solutions between the delegates. Not only was this experience beneficial to its participants in terms of educational purposes, but this also allowed them to form friendships and create unforgettable memories.
As a team, we were delighted to pick up three awards:
Shannon Monica Wijaya – Best Delegate – France – EFC
Chua Yi Shun – Best Delegate – Peru – SC
Yurida Hanani – Leadership – Nigeria – HRC
On 9th-10th November, we travelled to Sidoarjo for the Singapore National Academy MUN2019. It was another weekend of collaboration and teamwork, which resulted in the following awards:
Sean Edbert – Most Outstanding Delegate – Thailand – UNEP
Matthew Wongsodirdjo – Best Delegate – Germany – UNEP
Clarissa Lilananda – Best Delegate – Belgium – UNHRC
Reagan Cemorowono Narindra – Most Outstanding Delegate – United Kingdom – UNSC
Sean Chung – Best Position Paper – Iran – UNSC
After two weeks of hard work, we are already looking forward to the Sekolah Ciputra MUN in 2020!
