Dear Parents, Teachers and Staff,

On Friday we celebrated the 100th Day of School.  It was fantastic to note the enthusiasm and engagement in the PYP assembly.  Despite the unusual nature of the year the students and staff are all very active and passionate.  It is wonderful how the online learning environment has allowed us to maintain close relationships which are at the heart of effective teaching and learning.  Things are continually moving and changing.  As I have written previously, there are some encouraging signs regarding the pandemic.  It was very nice to see the vaccination programme beginning in Indonesia for instance.  When we are back face to face teaching it is really important that we remember and incorporate all the innovations that we have adapted and use them to enhance our schedules.

Grade 12 students, as previously written, are fast approaching their most crucial part of the year.  The upcoming mock examinations are critical for them, as are their remaining internal assessments.  We are expecting an announcement from the IBO within the month regarding how they will be assessed this year.  It is important that we are ready for all contingencies and that means ensuring a thorough revision programme with high predicted grades as evidenced by the mock examinations.  This needs to be supported with high quality internal assessments which will be critical if used for moderation.

The PYP Exhibition and the MYP Personal Project are nearly upon us.  Again, this provides a challenging yet exciting opportunity for the students to show their work off in an online environment.  Already we have seen some amazing projects and great enthusiasm and commitment.  We look forward to seeing the final product and the way in which these students can turn their learning into real world actions.

Have a great week!
