News from the Executive Principal’s Desk

Dear parents, students, teachers and alumni of Sekolah Ciputra,

This week begins with the school using online learning as we await more clarity about the recent unrest.  We will keep you informed as we move back to our regular and preferred face-to-face teaching!  In the meantime, please stay safe and we look forward to meeting again soon.

This past week has been a particularly vibrant one for our community. Our Open House on Thursday, Friday and Saturday welcomed large numbers of parents into the school. At Sekolah Ciputra we hold fast to the mantra that every day is an open day, and it was wonderful to see families engaging with learning in its authentic form. A real highlight came on Saturday, when students proudly showcased their work in the Entrepreneurship Hub. Projects ranged from the Personal Project and PYP Exhibition through to the Grade 9 Happiness Project, the Grade 4 Kidpreneur Fair and the Technology Exhibition. The students displayed great confidence and ownership of their learning, exemplifying the IB Learner Profile attributes of being communicators, thinkers and risk-takers. Alongside this, our OSIS inspired 3 x 3 basketball house competition, our sports practices and friendly games continued in full swing as teams prepare for upcoming tournaments.  We look forward to the senior boys’ tip off which was scheduled for Tuesday morning but will now be rescheduled and will support them en masse as a school.

On Thursday, our WASC and IBO teams, which include staff, parents and students, met to review sections of the self-study report they had not written themselves. This provided a valuable overview of the entire document and deepened shared understanding. In addition, our Wellbeing Committee presented its programme development plan, ensuring that this crucial area is embedded across the school. Both of these activities are important in our preparation for the combined IBO/WASC visit taking place during the week of 14th September.

Membership of WASC brings significant benefits to our school. The five-year self-study process has provided a structured opportunity for reflection and growth. By involving every sector of our community – staff, parents, students and alumni – we have ensured that our collective voice is represented and that we are truly building a school culture that aligns with our mission of developing world citizens who are innovative, resilient and lifelong learners.  It also provides another pathway for our students into university!

Looking ahead, planning for our school camps in the final week of term is very advanced. These camps are always a highlight for students, providing valuable opportunities to build independence, collaboration and leadership.  The parent empowerment workshop will also be a great opportunity.

Have a great week!
