NICHOLAS ABDIEL SETO
GRADUATED: 2018

1. After graduating from Sekolah Ciputra, where do you study? What is your major?
Universitas Kristen Petra and my major is Business Engineering.

2. What did you do after graduating from university?
After graduating, I started working as a Data Analyst in the financial services industry.

3. What is your current occupation? Please share an overview
I work as a Data Analyst at Pasar Dana Pinjaman, Jakarta. As a Data Analyst, my role is to transform raw data into meaningful information that empowers organizations to make data-driven decisions, improve performance, and gain a competitive edge. Another crucial aspect of my role is to present my findings in a clear and concise manner through visualizations like charts, graphs, or dashboards. Visual representations make complex data easier to understand and help stakeholders grasp the insights quickly.

4. What are some challenges that you faced as a data analyst? How do you overcome it?
As a data analyst, I work closely with stakeholders, including business managers, decision-makers, and domain experts. Aligning their goals, expectations, and understanding of data analysis can be challenging. The challenge is to bridge the gap between technical analysis and business requirements, ensuring that insights are relevant, actionable, and aligned with the organization’s objectives. Practice and learning from past mistakes really helped me when I first started my job.

5. What was the biggest challenge of moving to a new city?
The idea that I’m on my own and the only person I can rely on is myself. I’m in control of all my finances, health, job and everything. However, with every challenge, there’s always a way to overcome it. Over time, I’m used to the new environment.

6. What do you enjoy most about your new environment?
Surrounded by people with different backgrounds and personalities really gives me a new perspective. Also the idea that I’m on my own gives me the freedom to explore new things.

7. In what way did Sekolah Ciputra contribute to your job right now?
During my time in Sekolah Ciputra, we were encouraged to share our ideas and present them. Being used to it, I am more confident when I have to stand in front of people and communicate my findings clearly and concisely. The values of IB learner profile also shaped me to become the person that I am right now.

8. What was the best thing about Sekolah Ciputra? Tell us something memorable from your time at Sekolah Ciputra
The best thing about Sekolah Ciputra is the balance between academic and non-academic activities. Sekolah Ciputra really understands the importance of these two. Academically, Sekolah Ciputra is different from any conventional high school in Surabaya. Students are taught to be creative in problem solving which is reflected from the assessments given where the answers might be more than one. Non-academic activities also help students to be more mindful of their society; with activities that are designed to help students to be more active in their society and be a helping hand to one another. I remembered I had to build a bridge for local villagers in a remote village. It was a joyful experience since I could be a helping hand to those villagers.

9. What advice would you give to a graduating student?
I would say take time to discover your interests and passions. You are still young and the possibilities are limitless.  Engage in various activities, join clubs or organizations, and try new things. This exploration will help you gain a better understanding of what you enjoy and what you may want to pursue in the future. Remember that everyone’s journey is unique, and it’s okay to take different paths and make adjustments along the way. Be true to yourself, follow your passions, and pursue a path that aligns with your values and interests. Best of luck in your future endeavors!

10. Would you recommend Sekolah Ciputra to others? If yes, what would you say about it?
Absolutely, Sekolah Ciputra allows students to be who they truly are and unlock their true potential. Sekolah Ciputra has a unique and creative teaching method which keeps the students engaged and captivated. It really was a positive learning experience for me and feels like no other.

11. What do you enjoy doing in your free time?
Watching movies and doing some sports; recently badminton and tennis, are the two things that I look forward to when I have free time.
