Reflection of KYRA ANGELINA OUWERLING – Grade 12 DP
My experience in the DP Design Technology program has been one of the most valuable parts of my academic journey at this school. Through this course, I’ve been able to explore my passion for design while learning how to think critically, solve problems creatively, and develop innovative ideas with real-world applications. One of the most meaningful aspects for me was the opportunity to work on hands-on projects, especially being able to design, prototype, and refine a product that solves a real user need.
The process of learning about materials, sustainability, modeling techniques, and design strategies has helped me build confidence not only in my technical skills but also in how I communicate and present my ideas. I’m especially grateful for the constant support and guidance from my design teacher and our maker space manager, both of whom played a big role in shaping my experience with their expertise, encouragement, and practical help throughout the course.
The DP Design Technology program offers an engaging, real-world learning experience that equips students with essential skills for the future. It’s a course that pushes you to think beyond the classroom, empowering you to become a thoughtful, innovative, and purposeful designer. I’m truly grateful to have been part of this program.
