Sekolah Ciputra Brings Global Education Expert Julie Stern to Surabaya for EARCOS Workshop

Sekolah Ciputra continues to invest in professional learning as part of its commitment to high-quality international education. As a member of the East Asia Regional Council of Schools (EARCOS), we were able to host an EARCOS Weekend Workshop titled “Beyond the Surface. Expert Moves for Deep Conceptual Transfer” on March 7-8. The event brought together 93 educators from eight schools across Surabaya, Jakarta, Bali, and Singapore. The workshop created an opportunity for teachers and school leaders to strengthen their teaching practice and collaborate with educators from across the region.

The workshop was led by Julie Stern, an internationally recognised expert in conceptual teaching and learning. Julie Stern is an author, education consultant, and professional learning leader who works with schools worldwide. Her work focuses on helping educators design learning experiences that develop deep understanding and help students apply knowledge in unfamiliar contexts.

During the two-day workshop, participants explored practical strategies that support deeper student thinking and conceptual understanding. Educators received classroom examples, teaching tools, and both digital and printed resources that they could apply directly in their classrooms. Each participant also received a one-year subscription to Julie Stern’s online professional learning courses and materials to continue strengthening their teaching practice.

Sekolah Ciputra thanks all participants for their engagement and collaboration.
