On December 8th we held the 1st annual ‘Grandparents Day’. It was a huge success! Grandparents flew in from all over to spend this special day with their grandchild. The premise of the event is that intergenerational relationships are valuable and should be nurtured and celebrated. Intergenerational events like this one are social events that offer younger and older generations the opportunity to interact by sharing their talents and resources. Grandparents are a valuable resource because they have so many stories and experiences from their own lives to share. They offer a link to a childas cultural heritage and family history. Children understand more of who they are and where they come from through this connection. Grandparents are some of the best partners when it comes to using creativity and imagination to discover the wonders of life. Through intergenerational events, people of all ages share their talents and resources, supporting each other in relationships that benefit both the individuals and the community.
