News from the Executive Principal’s Desk

Dear parents, students, teachers and alumni of Sekolah Ciputra,

This past week has been filled with exciting activities and significant moments in our school community. The first week of the Ciputra Cup basketball competition, organised by OSIS, has been a great success, with the junior section concluding this weekend. We look forward to seeing the enthusiasm and sportsmanship continue as the competition progresses and we move into the senior competition.  The concert on Friday featuring Lorenzo, the string orchestra of Surabaya and conductor Addie M.S. was an incredible spectacle too.

This week our Grade 12 students will begin their mock examinations. This is a crucial period for them as they prepare for their final IB assessments. We encourage all students to approach these exams with focus and determination, using them as an opportunity to identify areas for improvement before their final examinations.

Words without borders, a celebration of language and language development begins this week in the PYP with many events including an assembly.  We look forward to being part of this celebration.

Another important event on the horizon is the WASC (Western Association of Schools and Colleges) meeting on the 20th. This meeting will involve parents, students, and teachers in discussions about school development and accreditation. We appreciate the participation of our school community in this process, as it ensures that Sekolah Ciputra continues to provide high-quality education and a strong learning environment for all students.

On Thursday, our PYP entrepreneurship team, Green Earth Enterprise, participated in the International Competition of Entrepreneurship – School Enterprise Challenge. They delivered a live business pitch to an international panel of judges and will find out in March if they have advanced to the next round. They were the only elementary team in the competition and won the sustainable business award.  Their participation reflects the core vision of our school founder, Pak Ciputra, who believed in nurturing entrepreneurial mindsets from an early age. It also aligns with our school’s mission of fostering resilience, creativity, and innovation—qualities that will prepare students for success in an ever-changing world.

And on the theme of success, it was wonderful that the senior boys basketball team won the SNA tournament over the weekend. This builds on what has already been a very successful season from a great group of athletes.

Thank you for your continued support and engagement in our school community.

Have a great week!
