Dear parents, students, teachers and alumni of Sekolah Ciputra,
This week provides two wonderful opportunities to reflect on who we are as a learning community and how we live out our mission and vision every day.
Monday marks the International Day of Failure, an important reminder that mistakes are not something to fear, but to learn from. At Sekolah Ciputra, we know that genuine learning involves taking risks, trying new approaches, and sometimes failing along the way. This is how innovation, creativity, and resilience are developed. Failure teaches perseverance and reflection—qualities that lie at the heart of both our mission and the IB learner profile. As lifelong learners, we are encouraged to be risk-takers who face challenges with courage and optimism. In doing so, we build the confidence and resilience necessary to reach our potential.
Over the weekend, we also hosted our annual School-to-School Conference, one of the largest professional learning events of its kind in Jawa Timur. More than 400 educators from across the country joined us on campus to share ideas and develop best practice. Our own teachers presented a range of engaging workshops, demonstrating both their professionalism and their generosity as contributors to the wider educational community. We were privileged to hear an inspiring keynote address from Pak Denny, representing the Board of Trustees, alongside insightful presentations from international experts on child protection and ICT/AI systems in education.
This event perfectly reflects our mission to be a leading educational institution that fosters entrepreneurship, innovation, and excellence. It also embodies the IB learner profile attributes of being communicators and knowledgeable individuals, committed to collaboration and global understanding.
We are proud of our teachers for their leadership and for continuing to model lifelong learning—showing our students that growth comes through curiosity, reflection, and the courage to take on new challenges. Special thanks should go to Pak Sam and the organising committee for their hard work and commitment.
Finally, well done to the parents and alumni who participated in the alumni challenge in padel on Saturday afternoon.
Have a great week!
Martin Blackburn
