Dear parents, students, teachers and alumni of Sekolah Ciputra,

I would like to welcome everyone to Week 4 here at Sekolah Ciputra. Yesterday we celebrated Indonesia’s independence day with the flag ceremony in the morning, and it was wonderful to come together as a community to reflect on our host nation and our own journey as a school through Pak Samuel’s speech. Merdeka!

I want to thank everyone that helped support the TEDx event yesterday. It was wonderful to see our students continue to push themselves and try new things, such as organizing and running the event itself, or presenting their own TED Talks during it. Mr. Michael Parsons and I were particularly impressed with 12th grade student Zahra’s talk on “normalcy,” and thought it would be great for many people in our polarized world to listen to.

As always, it is another busy week here.  The 7th-9th grade students are taking their PAIS and PAT tests over the first three days of the week. Our Senior Girls’ Basketball Team will play their first game of the DBL Tournament against SMAN 21 this Wednesday evening at 18:30.  We are welcoming several educators from our sister school, Sekolah Ciputra Kasih, who are visiting our campus and observing teachers and lessons to gain a better understanding of our Early Years and PYP educational model.  

On Thursday our university counselors will have a session for parents about the university research and application process in the High School LRC from 14:00-15:00. We will have our first Open Days of the school year this Thursday, Friday and Saturday, where we will welcome prospective families to learn more about our school and whether we are a good fit for what they want for their own children. Finally, we are also hosting the SAT exams this Saturday for students that have registered to take it.

I hope everyone has a great week and I look forward to hopefully seeing some of you at either the basketball game on Wednesday evening or the university session on Thursday.
