HS School Production

It truly works wonders… how a mere figment of imagination can turn into reality…

The playscript I dedicated my time to craft–with the guidance of Ms. Niken and Mr. Sulton–breathed into life … of course, it is all thanks to the joint efforts of such talented individuals.

It’s only been a few days, but oh, how I wish I could go back already.

When Petualangan Sherina aired in Ciputra Hall, the lights danced, the dancers swayed, props decorated the stage, the music played, and characters came alive. Hearing the reactions and cheers from the audience told me that the 8 months of planning and everybody’s efforts for this school production were all worth it in the end.

This was the first time I was granted the opportunity to take 3 roles at once in a school production: actor (Ratih), scriptwriter, and student director.

Truthfully speaking, taking on the 3 different roles was an interesting experience. After the script was finalized, my days were filled with practicing my lines at home with my mom and at school with my co-actors. One day, I would be the one having to practice vocal projection, facial expressions, and body gestures to bring Ratih’s extremely feminine character to life; on another day, I would be the one telling the student-actors–alongside Ms. Niken and Mr. Sulton–how to present their characters better. Between the days of the week, assuming my role as the student co-director, I would engage in group discussions with fellow student leaders from other divisions, making sure every detail of the production was on track.

As an individual aspiring to live a future tied to theater and film, this experience made me learn so many things. I learned what it meant to adapt–to balance time and energy, as well as what it meant to show commitment; it was not only about showing up, but also how I would set my priorities for this grand production. But most importantly, I learned that theater is more than just a performance; it is art that tells stories and builds trust.

And so, on the final day of our show, all students and teachers who took part in this production smiled in pride on the stage, shouting the very words, “Thank you for watching Petualangan Sherina!”
