News from the Executive Principal’s Desk

Dear students, staff, parents, alumni and the whole Sekolah Ciputra community,

A tradition we have built over the past few years has been to support the International Day of Failure. This was celebrated internationally on Sunday 13th.  We chose this event because we believe that failure is a great teacher, and that losing the fear of failure, and embracing its lessons makes students much better learners and much better people. We celebrated this occasion with an assembly in the PYP on Friday and by collecting stories about failures and the lessons that they teach. This will accumulate into a video which we will share. The importance of being a risk taker in all endeavours, including entrepreneurship, cannot be overstated and a necessary component of taking risks is to risk failure. Thank you to everyone who contributed to this event.

The school continues its focus on university placements. On Monday our PSG are hosting a parent seminar led by David Lim to assist parents through the process. Our major university fair will be held for Sekolah Ciputra students, and the wider community on the 16th. This will involve more than 60 universities and offers significant insight and choice.

On Saturday we had another large batch of prospective students taking enrolment tests in the high school. The scholarship process is also about to begin for both sporting and academic scholarships. Last year we had to close some grade levels to enrolment and that numbers applying were beyond our capacity. We anticipate this year presenting an even greater challenge so please hasten any enrolments to avoid this situation.

On Wednesday 16th high school parents have the opportunity of discussing progress reports with staff whilst on Thursday 17th we are holding a PSATs assessment for those who may be interested in attending US universities. World Food Day and International Library Week are also being celebrated!

Have a great week.
