Dear Parents, Teachers and Staff,

Welcome back everyone.  It is great to be able to get our new academic year underway.  I know we all look forward to a return to face to face teaching.  In the meantime, I am pleased and proud of the efforts being made by our teachers to make the teaching and learning process as authentic as possible.

Our IBDP results were once again outstanding.  Our average was well above the world average, as was our pass rate. Four students gained grades of over forty which is absolutely word class. What made this year different though was that for the first time a student gained a perfect score of 45. This is an unbelievable result. Over 170.000 students were assessed and fewer than 150 gained perfect scores. We were all delighted that Christy Lorentz gained this result. A testament to her dedication and hard work. Congratulations to her and her family.

Last Friday we inducted over 200 new students and on Saturday we had a virtual welcome to them and their parents. Christy had an opportunity to speak to the new students, and giving an inspiring quote, “You can’t always be the best, but you can always do your best.”  This is wonderful advice for the beginning of the year. My advice is to begin the year with the end in mind. Think carefully about what you want to achieve by the end of the year and work hard towards achieving it. Be positive, get help and stay focussed.  Our school vision board is currently covered with photos of students excelling in different areas including sports, the arts, and competitions like the MUN, CAS and academics. Please use this as inspiration going forward.  We have the teachers and environment to get the best from you and the support to help you achieve your goals and dreams!

Have a great week and a great year ahead!
